FAQ

Does Cebe handmade soaps contain animal products?
No. Cebe Soap Company does not use any animal products in any of its handmade soaps or other products. The soap bases contain 3 or more of the following ingredients: palm oil, coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, canola oil, sweet almond oil, soybean oil, shea butter or cocoa butter. No animal fats! Many of our handmade soaps and products also contain essential and fragrance oils. These are also non-animal products.

Does Cebe Soap Company use animals for testing?
No. However, I do use willing participants such as myself, my husband, my sons, family members and friends for testing the products. So far, I have only received extremely positive comments.

How long does 1 bar of Cebe handmade soap last?
The average 5 oz. bar should last about 7 to 10 days (1 person, 1 shower per day) if it's stored properly. Never let handmade soaps sit in water. To extend the life of your handmade soap, use soap dishes with holes to allow the water to drain away from the soap. Cebe handmade soaps are natural and are therefore more susceptible to melting or losing their shape due to extended periods of time in water. To insure you get the most from your handmade soap, please refer to the product page for a wonderful selection of soap dishes.

Do you have handmade soaps for sensitive skin?
Yes, we do. Cebe Soap Company has handmade soaps with no fragrances or added enhancements (Vitamin E, Aloe Vera or Jojoba). My father and sister both have extremely sensitive skin. My father loves the soaps (even with fragrances and enhancements). He always had a problem with a rash on his chest. It has been with him for years. Since using Cebe handmade soaps, my father has experienced a rash-free chest. As for my sister, she has always used shampoo on her body because the store-bought bars were too harsh. She has also had favorable results from Cebe handmade soaps.

I have allergies. does Cebe Soap Company list all the ingredients for its soaps?
Yes we do. We realize there are many customers with allergies and we don't want to make their handmade soap experience an unforgettably bad one. Each ingredient along with the enhancement(s) (Vitamin E, Aloe Vera or Jojoba) and essential oil or fragrance oil is listed on each bar of handmade soap.

Soap 101

Let's start with the basics.

What is soap?
The American Heritage Dictionary, Third Edition, offers the following definition: Soap: 'A cleansing agent made from alkali acting on natural oils and fats.'

How is it made?
Well, here is the simple breakdown for making soap:
First, dissolve sodium hydroxide (alkali metal) in water. Once the sodium hydroxide is dissolved, what's have left is called lye (alkali). The lye is then mixed with natural oils and fats and a chemical reaction known as saponification takes place. At this point in the process, the lye, fats and oils become one... and you have Soap. The soap is then cured for 3 to 6 weeks depending on the types of fats and oils used.

What is alkali metal?
Alkali Metal: 'Any of a group of soft, white, low-density, low-melting, highly reactive metallic elements, including lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, and francium.'

What is alkali?
Alkali: 'A carbonate or hydroxide of an alkali metal, the aqueous solution of which is basic in reactions.'

What is aqueous?
Aqueous: 'Relating to, containing, or dissolved in water; watery'

What is saponification? Saponification: 'A reaction in which an ester is heated with an alkali, producing a free alcohol and an acid salt, esp. alkaline hydrolysis of a fat or oil to make soap.'

This particular process of combining lye with fats and oils to achieve soap is called the Cold Process Method. Unless otherwise noted, the Cold Process Method of making soap is the process Cebe Soap Company uses for all of its handmade soaps.

WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT AVOCADO?

Great question.

Avocado oil is a wonderful gift for the body. both inside and out. Avocado oil is loaded with vitamins and minerals; and, the healing qualities are out of this world. Based on a research paper by Valette and Sobrin , avocado oil has skin penetrating qualities that are second to none. And to top it off, avocado oil contains a high percentage of unsaponifiables (the portion of the oil that does not react to form soap, but retains all of its natural qualities).

For inside the body, avocado oil can reduce the amount of LDL cholesterol in the blood as a monounsaturated fatty acid. This fatty acid is found in olive, peanut, canola, and avocado oils (emphasis added). Avocado oil is also loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, E and D, and minerals lecithin, amino acids and potassium.

As for the outside of the body, avocado oil is one of Mother Nature's exquisite gifts for the skin. Avocado oil is well known for its ability to soften and sooth skin. It is used in skin care to help alleviate symptoms of psoriasis, eczema or sun damaged skin. It is also a great nutrient for dry and mature skin. Avocado oil helps with the regenerating and softening of the skin tissue and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

The research paper by Valette and Sobrin reported additional skin-penetrating properties of a number of oils. Of the oils tested, (which included corn, soybean, almond and olive oils), avocado oil had the highest rate of skin penetration and the ability to transport active substances through the outer epidermis of the skin and into the dermis for increased effectiveness. Avocado oil penetrates the skin more deeply than other plant oils (e.g. lanolin, olive, almond or soya-bean oils). Therefore, it's an ideal base for transdermal treatment and a natural carrier for added supplements to reach the deepest target areas.

Cebe Soap Company's avocado soap contains more than 30% avocado oil in its avocado soaps. We are very proud of this bar and we hope that you have a great soap experience with it.

Cebe Soap Company makes no claim of our soaps currying any skin disorder. At best, we hope our avocado soap naturally cleans your skin without irritation.
